We Officially Broke Ground on The Commons

On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, over 250 residents, community leaders, nonprofits, business and government leaders gathered for the groundbreaking of The Commons. It was a special moment for all of us - the local community and the lead partners at The Commons (Horning Brothers, Horning Family Fund, Martha's Table and Community of Hope) as we celebrated a major milestone for our community program campus. The Commons is all about people coming together to achieve something greater than any of us can achieve on our own, and every aspect of the groundbreaking echoed this collaborative spirit.

We were joined by Mayor Muriel Bowser, Director of Constituent Services for Ward 8 Kim Harrison, ANC 8B Chair Khadijah Watson, and President of the Hillsdale Civic Association Arnehl Lyon. Students from the Ballou HS Marching Band and the Moten Elementary School Choir warmed our hearts with their musical performances.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make the groundbreaking a memorable event!
